After listening to my presentation, my aim is for the attendees to look at scientific illustrations or natural history artworks in a different/more informed way, so that when discussing it with their students they can get more in depth and have more productive conversations. They will also learn about some unique animal species and why uncovering weird and wonderful flora and fauna is so important for society. Lastly, they will walk away with some tips and tricks on drawing proportions, practicing symmetry, painting with watercolours to create depth and understanding colour theory. Sami is 26 years old and is currently based in Newcastle, NSW. She has released three books in the Illustrated Encyclopaedia series and has just released her fourth book (the first of a new of a new series), called How We Came To Be - Surprising Sea Creatures, published by Lothian - Hachette Australia. With a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (Honours) at UoN, she is trained in scientific illustration and loves to illustrate any animal that can be defined as weird, wonderful, or even ugly!
